Working within the Strategy and Public Affairs Department this senior role requires the ability to collaborate across multiple teams and departments. The Communications Manager will work closely with the Head of Communications, the Director of Strategy and Public Affairs and other senior leaders, supporting the implementation of key communication initiatives that align with Respond’s mission. This position involves leading a high functioning communication team (three direct reports), partnering with various departments to ensure cohesive external and internal messaging that advances Respond’s mission. The role requires experience in public affairs, advocacy and crisis communication management. Responsibilities:Strategic leadership in CommunicationsOversee day-to-day internal and external communications, media and marketing activities of Respond.Coordinate Respond’s communications plan to align with organisational goals. Foster relationships with external partners, including media, government officials and stakeholders. Assess tenant and service user needs to determine appropriate channels of communications. Collaborate with the People & Culture Manager to enhance internal communication strategies for stronger employee engagement. Act as an advisor to the Head of Communications and the Director of Strategy and Public Affairs on communication matters.  Media and Reputation Management Develop and execute proactive media strategies to raise awareness of Respond’s impact.Monitor media, government affairs and public sentiment to guide communication strategies. Identify media and speaking opportunities for the Spokesperson, preparing briefing materials as needed.   Team Development and LeadershipManage and support a team of three, fostering a learning culture and encouraging professional growth.Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure communication strategies support Respond’s strategic objectives. Contribute actively to the work of the Strategy and Public Affairs department. Finance and Resource Management Oversee the Communications budget, ensuring cost efficiency and value for money. Plan and organise resources to meet the objectives of the communication plans. Strategic Analysis and InfluenceProvide insights and recommendations to enhance Respond’s communications approach, contributing to organisational initiatives.  Supporting senior leaders by offering communication guidance, as appropriate, and aligning team activities with organisational priorities.   Education:Requires undergraduate degree level in a relevant discipline (journalism, PR or equivalent field). Skills & Experience:Position requires 8-10 years of experience in a communications, marketing or journalist role.KnowledgeComprehensive understanding of PR strategies, media relations and journalism practices.Strong knowledge of marketing strategies, branding and digital marketing.In depth understanding of developing and implementing communications plans.Expertise in managing digital communications and developing content strategies across social media, websites and other platforms, ensuring cohesive and impactful messaging.Experience in managing relationships with key stakeholders with a proven ability to influence and drive engagement at all levels. Awareness of housing, homelessness and related social issues in Ireland.Experience working with and managing multi-disciplinary teams.Skills/AttributesProven leadership skills to guide and motivate the Communications team.Excellent project management skills with a proven track record of delivering multi-channel communication campaigns within tight deadlines. Strong strategic communication skills, with the ability to align communication strategies with broader organisational goals and objectives.Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and emerging issues.Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and consistency in communications.Innovative and creative mindset to develop engaging content and campaigns.Team orientated approach with the ability to work effectively across departments.Strong problem solving skills to address challenges and find effective solutions.Genuine passion for Respond’s mission to improve lives and communities through housing and services in the community.Closing date for applicants is Friday, 15th November 2024.
