QualificationsBSc. in Radiography or equivalent, with a minimum of 6 years’ experience, including experience in interventional radiography.CORU Registration (mandatory). Key Responsibilities1. Leadership & Service Management1.1 Act as the team leader for the Interventional Radiography Service, ensuring the efficient day-to-day running of the department. 1.2 Optimise patient workflows within interventional suites to reduce waiting times and enhance patient care. 1.3 Develop, implement, and review standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality interventional imaging. 1.4 Oversee a comprehensive Quality Assurance (QA) Program for interventional equipment, including angiography suites, fluoroscopy systems, and other specialised equipment. 1.5 Supervise and mentor radiographers, ensuring competency and confidence in interventional procedures. 1.6 Lead and participate in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery. 1.7 Collaborate with other clinical specialists, consultants, and the multidisciplinary team to optimise clinical protocols and imaging pathways. 1.8 Support the introduction of new technologies, workflows, and procedures in interventional radiology. 1.9 Ensure the department meets regulatory standards for radiation safety and clinical governance.2. Clinical Expertise2.1 Deliver expert-level radiography services during interventional procedures, such as angiograms, biopsies, drainages, stent placements, and embolisations. 2.2 Assist with complex procedures, ensuring high technical and patient care standards. 2.3 Actively contribute to the advancement of interventional radiology services by researching and adopting evidence-based practices. 2.4 Manage vetting and prioritisation of interventional radiology referrals.3. Education & Training3.1 Lead clinical education programs for radiography students and junior staff, with a focus on interventional procedures. 3.2 Deliver training sessions on new equipment, techniques, and protocols to enhance staff development.4. Communication & Collaboration4.1 Foster effective communication with radiologists, consultants, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure seamless service delivery. 4.2 Act as a key point of contact for patients undergoing interventional procedures, ensuring clear explanations and addressing concerns. 4.3 Attend and contribute to team meetings, departmental planning sessions, and multidisciplinary discussions. 4.4 Escalate incidents, near-misses, or equipment faults promptly to the Radiology Services Manager.
