Clinical Placement Co-Ordinator(Temporary Contract, Full Time)Mercy University Hospital is seeking to recruit a Clinical Placement Co Ordinator-(CPC) (CNM2) to work as part of our established team.The learning environment places the student at the centre of the learning experience where students are encouraged to be proactive in seeking out learning experiences and develop their own practice to meet the required standards for Nursing Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)This role involves support to individual students. The CPC supports the identification of learning opportunities in clinical practice in both formal and informal learning. The CPC also supports staff in the clinical learning environments to enable students achieve the required learning outcomes.The CPC is part of the wider Nurse Practice Development team. The post holder will report to the Assistant Director of Nursing, Nurse Practice Development and is professionally accountable to the Director of Nursing.The post would be ideal for a Registered Nurse with excellent communication, knowledge and caring skills working in a diverse environment supporting student nurses learning experience in the delivery of patient centred care. Responsibilities - The post holder will:Advise, encourage, support and facilitate nursing students’ learning through a broad range of means e.g. the identification of learning opportunities in the clinical areas, imparting knowledge and creating an environment that is conducive to learning so that students can achieve their maximum potential from clinical placements.Foster a culture of learning where nursing students are valued and supported.Assist nursing students to adapt to the clinical environment with orientation programmes and organised reflective practice.Provide guidance to Students and Preceptors/ Registered Nurses on any issues relating to students’ clinical practice in the clinical areas.Respond to educational needs within the hospital in collaboration with The Nurse Practice Development Co Ordinator, Senior Nurse Management Team and Clinical Nurse Managers.Assess, Plan, Organize, Supervise, Evaluate and Monitor quality care metrics and commit to evidence based practice.Support nursing student’s performance in the clinical setting and discuss the strengths and development needs with the student and the Preceptor/ Registered Nurse/CNM.Advise CNM and Preceptor/Registered Nurse on the learning needs of individual students as required.Work as a member of the Nurse Practice Development Team on quality care initiatives.Participate in the development, formulation and evaluation of guidelines, policies, and procedures to enhance a quality service. Eligibility Criteria: Be a registered nurse on the active Register of Nurses and Midwives held by An Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland) or be eligible to be so registeredAndBe registered in the General Division of the register of Nurses and Midwives in which the application is being madeAnd Have a minimum of 5 years post registration full time experience in an acute hospital setting of which 2 years must be in the speciality or related area, preceptorship and commitment to teaching and learning desirable. AndDemonstrate evidence of continuing professional development Have the ability to practice safely and effectively fulfilling their professional responsibility within his/her scope of practice   Closing date for applications is 1pm Wednesday 8th May 2024The MUH reserve the right to create a panel for this post from which permanent, fixed term and specified purpose vacancies of a full or part time duration may be filled.
