Each Ward provides a range of services and this role is important in making a significant contribution, developing and maintaining best practice in nursing services at clinical areas.Role SummaryAs a key member of the front line management team, reporting to the CNM2, the CNM1 will demonstrate managerial and leadership skills and facilitate effective communication with colleagues in the unit and the hospital. The role holder will participate in triaging patients and provide direct comprehensive nursing care to patients using evidence-based practice and adjusting resources to ensure continuity of care. The CNM1 will communicate and co-operate with the medical/nursing staff teams in the delivery of quality continuing care for patients. The role holder will manage the staff nurses, administration staff, student nurses, health care assistants and ward clerks. Key ResponsibilitiesSupervision of registered nurses, health care assistants, student nurses, ward clerks while maintaining a safe working environment.Monitor standard of nursing services provided and problem solves clinical nursing concerns.Ensure the agreed hospital policies and procedures are known, understood and implemented by the staff.Available to patients, relatives and visitors to provide the necessary support, reassurance and clinical and allied clinical information.Give direct nursing care to patients in a pro active manner.Work within a multidisciplinary team in the co-ordination of holistic patient careImplement evidence based nursing practice using a care planning approach.Liaise with medical staff on relevant matters concerning patient care and particularly with the ward consultants. Ensure safe practice is adhered to in the storage, preparation, administration and documentation of all medications.
