About the RoleThe role is responsible for the delivery of safe, efficient, and highquality care across Daycare Services, including day surgery, minor operations, urology day services, and infusions, in line with standards of acute nursing practice. Reporting to and supporting the Clinical Nurse Manager 3, the CNM1 will demonstrate strong managerial and leadership skills, coordinating daytoday clinical activity, assist in managing resources, and supporting staff to ensure excellent patient outcomes. The position requires a participative and proactive approach to service delivery and development, fostering effective communication with colleagues and promoting a positive team culture. The CNM1 will contribute to continuous quality improvement, staff development, and the management of change, playing a vital role in ensuring that Daycare Services remain personcentred, safe, and aligned with organisational objectives.Key Responsibilities Assist the CNM 3 with effective and efficient management of the Daycare Department ensuring that high standards of quality patient care are maintained.Provide safe and comprehensive nursing care in accordance with the Code of Professional Conduct set out by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI), as well as relevant professional clinical guidelines.In the absence of the CNM 3, in conjunction with other CNM 1’s, the CNM 1 manages the overall daily functions of the department taking responsibility for the safe delivery and coordination of nursing services for patients, ensuring effective, efficient and quality specialist nursing care.Manage own patient caseload in accordance with the needs of the departmentPlan specialist nursing service, innovations and developments.Ensure that nursing care is based on the latest research findings and constitute best practice.Develop close links with other healthcare facilities relevant to the delivery and enhancement of services. Monitor complaints and investigate any nursing and clinical complaints, taking corrective and preventative action as appropriate and review audit to ensure there are no reoccurrences.Maintain nursing records in accordance with local service and professional standards.Contribute to the development and maintenance of nursing standards, protocols and guidelines consistent with the highest standards of patient care.Maintain professional standards in relation to confidentiality, ethics and legislationFacilitate effective communication with patients, relatives, visitors and multidisciplinary team as necessary ensuring patient confidentiality is respected and maintained at all times.Communicate and develop effective relationships with Consultant colleagues, Clinical Nurse Managers and other relevant hospital staff to ensure safe, efficient management of the department.Identify opportunities for the development of services that will improve the care of patients.Ensure that systems for the provision of clinical and nonclinical services are satisfactory and that they are timely and economically utilised.In conjunction with CNM 2 undertake an annual review of nursing services including the preparation of an annual report.Ensure that all staff within the department are familiar with the plan for management of critical incidents and that the department is ready to meet such a demand.Education & ExperienceBe registered in the general division of the Register of Nurses maintained by NMBIHave at least five years recent relevant postregistration nursing experience (fulltime or equivalent hours parttime) in an acute hospital setting and a minimum of two years nursing experience in acute surgical ward/daycare setting.Have a recognised postregistration nursing course Higher Diploma or Post Grad course, in Postgraduate qualification in a relevant nursing specialty or management and/or a willingness to undertake same.Why work at the Blackrock Health Hermitage ClinicCompetitive salary An Education Support Programme Development opportunities Opportunities for career progression Subsidised Restaurant Free staff car parking Employee Assistance Programme The Blackrock Health Hermitage Clinic is an Equal Opportunities Employer with a strong commitment to diversity, inclusion and equality at all levels of the organisation.
