As a JCI accredited hospital, Blackrock Clinic is a progressive and pioneering hospital in which care for the patient is central to everything we do.Job Title                     Clinical Nurse FacilitatorReports                      Clinical Nurse Manager PFUHours                          37.5 hours per week  ROLE PURPOSEThe main purpose of the Clinical Nurse Facilitator in the Patrick Fitzgerald Unit is to assist the Clinical Nurse Managers and the Clinical Nurse Specialist in providing the necessary educational and clinical support to nursing staff. There is a specific emphasis on supporting the novice nurse at the bedside to plan and direct care. The role is one of encouraging and enabling learning and promoting a high standard of care to all nursing staff on the unit. QUALIFICATIONS·      Registered in the general division of the NMBI·      Evidence of personal professional development.·      Minimum of 3 years experience in acute care setting.·      Vision, innovation, flexibility, good communication and management skills are essential to the successful carrying out of the job.·      Ability to work own initiative·      Familiarity with the hospital policies and procedures·      Full knowledge of the Domains of Competence as set down by the NMBI KEY RESPONSIBILITIESEducation, Training and DevelopmentActs as a role model at clinical level.Promotes the learning environment on the unit through continuous education relevant to the patients admitted to the unit. Provides mentorship /preceptorship, teaching and supervisory skills for nurses, student nurses, health care assistant and nurse on adaption or return to practice.Assist in the orientation of new staff to the unit.Assist in running an in-service educational programme for staff.Engaging in direct clinical teaching for nursing staff in the Unit.Maintain awareness of current advances in treatment, care and research. Use  relevant educational opportunities to maintain the highest standards and practice in nursing care.Participating in the planned performance review for nursing within the unit.Identify training needs and put in place a plan for learning and development of all staff involved in patient care. Managerial ResponsibilitiesDemonstrate leadership ability together with good communication skills and management capability.Help to foster a supportive working environment and maintain staff morale. Be aware of hospital policies and procedures and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team and accreditation manager to ensure that these are observed.Assist the Unit Manager in interviewing and selecting of staff Communication SkillsMaintain documents according to the policies and procedures of Blackrock Clinic.Update documents to observe physical and emotional symptoms and changes.Report relevant information verbally and in writing to appropriate nursing personnel.Communicate appropriate with colleagues and other members of the health care team in a manner that avoids antagonism, reduces conflict and prevents undue anxietyAttend and contribute in staff meetings and team briefing.Facilitate culture change were necessary.Report all incidents immediately, which may adversely affect a patient, colleague or the Blackrock Clinic.         Professional ExpectationsFunction within the limits of NMBI and hospital policies, procedures and standards.Support the Mission Statement of Blackrock Clinic.Demonstrate flexibility by assisting in other areas of the hospital as required.Set annual goals and objectives with CNM.Continue to develop personal knowledge and skills.Provide direct supervision to other members of the nursing team when appropriate.Participate in working groups to develop and promote quality care within Blackrock Clinic.Accept responsibility for “Acting Up” in specific instances, as assigned.Why work at the Blackrock Clinic?At the Blackrock Clinic, we are passionate about our people and believe in their development and growth.
