As part of the Mater Private Clinical Facilitator team, the post holder will work collaboratively with the Nurse management team to deliver high quality teaching and learning within the department. The post holder will serve as a resource person for the department by facilitating work based teaching thereby supporting staff to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care. · Provide supportive supervision and professional development for nursing staff· To support evidence based practice initiatives· Assess and identify training and development needs for nursing in the department· Co-ordinate and deliver a structured training and education programme to reflect the practice needs in the department.· Act as a key facilitator in coordinating learning opportunities to address individual needs identified through performance appraisals.· Participate in bedside teaching and the development of clinical competence of junior staff· Participate in the recruitment process for the departmentKey responsibilities:· Ensure teaching and learning reflects current research in critical care practice.· Participate in the competency assessment of staff and Formulate learning outcome plans for nurses who do not meet the criteria for clinical competency.· Participate in the orientation and induction process for staff in the department· Act as an effective role model by demonstrating skilled nursing care· Demonstrate specialist knowledge and clinical expertise in Critical Care.· Identify and develop policies, procedures and guidelines for the department in collaboration with ADON Practice Development· Participate in internal Committees/ meetings as required· Promote a clinical learning environment conducive to the learning needs.· Support and coach staff to achieve their maximum potential in relation to personal development· Promote good critical care practice by participating in local and national conferences and networking with national and international Critical Care UnitsEligibility criteria· Must maintain annual registration on the relevant division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland· Have at least 5 years post registration experience, 3 of which years must be within the Critical Care or related area· Have the managerial and administrative capacity to discharge the clinical functions of the role.· Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development at the appropriate level : Critical Care Nursing Qualification or post graduate Diploma· Demonstrate IT skills (Especially word and PowerPoint)· Experience in teaching and assessing nursing care teams· Experience of using advanced critical care equipment desirableMater Private Network is an Equal Opportunities Employer
