Role SummaryThe Candidate Clinical Nurse Specialist (CAMHS) has a pivotal role in the delivery of effective, recovery orientated, high quality, team based, integrated care for individuals with mental health problems. The purpose of the role is also to provide assessment and support to the individual through the delivery of appropriate treatment and recovery orientated interventions to support care in the community working towards reduction in the need for acute hospitalization. These posts will support National Mental Health Clinical programme delivery. They will involve the staff members undertaking assessments, initiating a range of evidenced based recovery orientated clinical interventions and linking closely with a range of statutory services in secondary and primary care services and with voluntary services in the local community. They will be expected to work as a member of a community mental health team, undertaking standardized assessments and management along with assertive follow up involving families/carers as appropriate.Minimum RequirementsThe successful candidate must:Be a registered nurse/midwife on the active Register of Nurses and Midwives held by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland. ANDBe registered in the division(s) of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland register for which the application is being made (Psychiatric) or be entitled to be so registered. ORIn exceptional circumstances, which will be assessed on a case-by-case basis be registered in another Division of the register of Nurses and Midwives. ANDHave a minimum of 1 years’ post registration full time experience or an aggregate of 1 years’ full-time experience in the division of the register in which the application is being made.ANDHave a minimum of 1 years’ experience or an aggregate of 1 years’ full-time experience in specialist area of CAMHS.ORIf the applicant does not possess the relevant specialist experience, they will be supported to attain one year’s clinical specialist experience.ANDHave successfully completed a post registration program of study, as certified by the education provider which verifies that the applicant has achieved a Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) major academic Level 9 or higher award (equivalent to 60 ECTS or above) that is relevant to the specialist area of care (CAMHS). ORIf the applicant does not possess the relevant QQI NFQ Level 9 qualification, the applicant will be supported to undertake the required postgraduate education, at QQI NFQ level 9 qualification (equivalent to 60 ECTS or above) relevant to the specialist area. ANDBe required to demonstrate that they have continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the specialist area or will be supported to obtain the required CPD. ANDHave the ability to practice safely and effectively fulfilling his/her professional responsibility within his/her scope of practice. The pathway, including the educational component, must be completed within a two-year timeframe.
