Job TitleBusiness Intelligence (BI) Data EngineerSalary€72,511 pa (Other arrangements may apply if coming directly from another civil or public service body)Tenure5-year fixed term contractWork LocationDublin or CorkClosing DateMidnight Tuesday 7th January 2025Role ProfileWe have an exciting opportunity for a Business Intelligence (BI) Data Engineer in the Retrofit Data and Reporting Team in the Community and National Retrofit Department. The Retrofit Data and Reporting Team are responsible for creating and maintaining key operational and management dashboards and reports for all programmes in the Retrofit Directorate. They include all the key SEAI domestic grant programmes and the Energy Performance Building Directive programmes (Building Energy Rating). In addition, the programme built and maintain the underlying data integration platform (Azure Synapse) and support key external data services.  The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic and innovative team who are committed to maintaining the highest level of reporting, ensuring that key stakeholders have access to accurate and reliable data in a timely manner to make the key data driven decision that support the effective running of grant programme and provide key insights to internal and external stakeholders to grow and develop the programmes to meet SEAI key Climate Action ambitions and targets.  The position will report to the Retrofit Data and Reporting Programme Manager. The successful candidate will have a key role in creating and maintaining the existing underlying reporting platform and associated reporting, while also having a pivotal role in the redesign and development of a new enterprise-wide reporting platform build on Microsoft Fabric.  Essential RequirementsThe successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:A degree (a minimum of NFQ Level 8 or greater) or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant technical discipline such as Computer Science, Engineering, or Data Analytics.Minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering, data analytics, or a related field.Hands-on experience with Azure Synapse Analytics or comparable technologies.Proficiency in developing dashboards and reports in Microsoft Power BI.Proven ability to design and manage data pipelines and data flows.Experience working with diverse data sources, including on-premises databases and cloud-based systems.Strong understanding of data governance and data protection principles.Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing, presenting, public speaking and the ability to communicate complex concepts to non-technical audiences.Desirable RequirementsExperience with Microsoft Fabric or similar modern data platforms.Familiarity with public sector reporting.Certification in Microsoft Azure or Power BI.Experience working with Dynamics 365 CRM data models.Knowledge of integrating data with SharePoint and similar platforms.Experience in advanced analytics.Knowledge of emerging trends and technologies in data engineering and analytics.Demonstrated ability to collaborate with external vendors.Familiarity with scripting languages like Python or R for data processing.Eligibility to WorkThe SEAI has a legal obligation to ensure that all employees are lawfully entitled to work in Ireland.
