The Technical Department encompasses a number of SEAI business areas including Technical Standards and Quality, High Performance Building Retrofits, EPBD Concerted Action, BER Calculation Methodology, BER Software & systems and BER Operations. Under the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, Member States are required to establish a system for the certification of the energy performance of buildings. SEAI is the Issuing Authority for these Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs), also known as Building Energy Ratings (BERs), and is responsible for the administration of the system. Member States should also ensure that there are independent experts in place to produce Building Renovation Passports.The successful candidate will report to the Head of the Technical Department and will lead the team responsible for the day-to-day operations of the scheme and developing and maintaining the BER system. They will also be responsible for ensuring that the requirements of the recast EPBD are met in relation to EPBD Articles 25, 26 and 27 of the Directive. The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic and innovative Department team who are committed to the high-quality delivery of SEAI’s mission. Essential RequirementsThe successful candidate must be able to demonstrate: A degree (a minimum NFQ level 7 or greater) in a relevant technical discipline such as Architecture, Mechanical or Civil Engineering, Building Services, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Economics, or other fields relevant to building energy modelling and methodologies. A strong technical background and a minimum of five years’ experience directly relevant experience working in building performance design and certification or in sustainability / energy consultancy or in project management in a related field.Knowledge or experience of building energy modelling and standards including a working knowledge of DEAP and NEAP.Experience of management of a team and staff development.Strong project management and organisation skills and experience in business process development including change management. Excellent communication (written and oral) and the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.Desirable RequirementsPMP certified.A good understanding of building energy systems.Qualifications in Quality Management or Lean systems, etc. Knowledge or experience with: LEED GA or BREEAM AP or BEMP.Experience or knowledge of delivering positive customer experiences.Eligibility to WorkThe SEAI has a legal obligation to ensure that all employees are lawfully entitled to work in Ireland.
