Basic Grade & Senior Medical Scientist (Haematology and Blood Transfusion)

Full Time (35 hours) position available A Basic Grade Medical Scientist position and a Senior Grade Medical Scientist position has arisen in the Haematology and Blood Transfusion Department of Blackrock Clinic. The successful candidates will have an opportunity to rotate between the two sections with an option to progress to participation in the multi-disciplinary on-call rota. The department utilises the most up to date automated techniques and electronic red cell issue. The large, busy laboratory supports Ireland’s leading and longest established private hospital. Blackrock Clinic has an unparalleled reputation for ground breaking diagnostics and high-tech cardiac/cardiothoracic and robotic surgical procedures. The hospital is at the forefront of critical care with a new 12 bed ICU and Emergency Department. Other specialties include orthopaedics, spinal, oncology, general medical & surgical, ENT, Ophthalmic, Gynaecology, Urology and plastic surgery.The pathology department was one of the first in Ireland to be accredited by CPA in 2007; and is now fully accredited to ISO 15189.The laboratory is extremely supportive of continual professional development (both academically and financially), including MSc courses. Subsidised parking is available on site The appointment will be made on the Basic Grade and the Senior Grade Medical Scientist scales at a point in line with Government pay policy and dependant on qualifications and experience. Background/ ExperiencePrevious experience working in a medical laboratory is desirable for basic grade and essential for a senior position. Consideration will be given to practical experience gained whilst completing BSc for Basic Grade. Please note that applicants must be a member or eligible for membership of the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine and be eligible for CORU registration.
