We have the most advanced diagnostic imaging equipment available today, full Cardiological facilities including a Cardiac Catheterisation Suite and Clinical Laboratory servicesThe Physiotherapy Department provides a range of inpatient and outpatient services and this role is important in making a significant contribution, developing and maintaining best practice in Physiotherapy services. About the roleThe Physiotherapy Department provides a range of inpatient and outpatient services and this role is important in making a significant contribution, developing and maintaining best practice in Physiotherapy services. Key responsibilities:Patient CareCarry a clinical caseload appropriate to the postClient assessment, development and implementation of individualised treatment plans that are client centred and in line with best practiceGoal setting in partnership with client, family and other team members as appropriateEnsure that privacy and dignity of the patient is respected at all times.Communicate and work in co-operation with other team membersDevelop effective communication with and provide instruction, guidance and support to service users, family and carers. Maintain good communications with Consultants, General Practitioners and community care team members for early discharge and adequate follow – up.Document client records in accordance with professional standards and departmental policies Maintain an accurate record-keeping system to comply with legal requirements, to support clinical studies and to provide information for data collection.Provide a service in varied locations in line with departmental policy within appropriate time allocation (e.g. clinic, home visits)Participate in review meetings, case conferences, ward rounds etc. as appropriateWork within own scope of professional competence in line with principles of best practice, professional conduct and clinical governanceSeek the advice of relevant personnel when appropriate / as requiredOperate within the scope of practice of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists Keep abreast with current changes in clinical practice by attending in-services, seminars, conferences and post-graduate courses.To comply with departmental rotational scheme.Participate in weekend, bank holiday and on-call rotaAttend clinics, team meetings and ward rounds when necessaryDeputise for senior when necessaryParticipate in performance management in line with departmental policyParticipate in performance review process with line managerLearning and EducationContribute to the requirements of professional practice relevant to Physiotherapy.Take personal responsibility for own professional development and keep up to date with evidence based practice and research. Attend and participate in staff development programmes on an ongoing basis.Assist with the orientation and induction of new staff and be available to provide orientation as deemed necessary, helping them to integrate as members of the Unit team.Assist in the training of nursing support staff together.Identify and inform the Learning and Education Team of any training and professional development requirements.Attend all mandatory training days and ensure that all mandatary training is in date.Comply with all HR system and policy requirements.Quality Improvement and Risk ManagementEnsure compliance with all relevant Hermitage Medical Clinic guidelines, policies, procedures and relevant legislation and regulatory requirements. Participate in the continuous review and evaluation of policies, guidelines and existing practices through regular audit programmes and review engaging with the multi-disciplinary team where required.Assist in promoting a culture of continuous quality improvement across the department.  Be aware of the core objectives, standards and key performance indicators for the service and contribute to the monitoring of performance against these standards.Participate in the requirements of the hospitals accreditation process.Participate in the requirements of the hospital’s risk management programme.Promote the delivery of a high standard of care to all patients. Encourage evidence-based practice and assist in the dissemination and implementation of research findings.Work with members of the Multidisciplinary team in devising Standard Operating Procedures for the development of the Unit.Assist in ensuring a culture of safety, promoting positive reporting of incidents and near misses; investigate and take remedial action on incidents or near misses involving patients and staff according to hospital policies, protocols and guidelines.Essential CriteriaQualificationsBSc degree in PhysiotherapyDiploma U.C.D. or Trinity CollegeISCP/CORU recognised equivalent to aboveKnowledge of the operational procedures in the Physiotherapy DepartmentCurrent member of ISCP or CORUExperience in the areas of orthopaedics, respiratory and neurological physiotherapySkillsInterpersonal and communication skills Audit and evaluation Quality focusFlexibility and openness to changeTime management IT skillsWhy work with usThe Hermitage Clinic are passionate about our people and believe in their development and growth.
