Assistant Accountant / Bookkeeper

Family Care is looking for a dedicated and skilled Assistant Accountant/Bookkeeper to play a key role in our Finance team. In this position, you will provide essential support to the Finance and Business Support Manager, ensuring the smooth running of our finance department. Your expertise will help maintain transparency and efficiency in all financial transactions, contributing to our commitment to operational excellence.Key Responsibilities:Analyze and record financial transactionsProduce accounts to Trial BalanceConduct income reconciliationsPrepare and issue monthly sales invoicesCalculate and post accruals and prepaymentsManage inter-company accounting processesOversee sales and purchase ledgersHandle fixed asset capitalization, depreciation, and reconciliationsImport and reconcile petty cash, credit card, and debit card journalsSet up month-end spreadsheetsProvide financial information and analysis at the unit levelReconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain accurate supporting evidenceContinuously review and improve processes to enhance efficiency, productivity, and financial controlSupport external audits with timely provision of requested documentationOffer assistance to the wider Finance and Business Support team as requiredAdditional Responsibilities:Complete all tasks to the highest standardMaintain a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of childrenAttend meetings, team events, and performance reviews as requiredWork safely to protect your own and others' health and safetyNotify your line manager of any intended absence due to sickness or other reasonsDeclare any additional work or activity that may pose a conflict of interestWhat We’re Looking For:You will have excellent IT, administrative, and numerical skills, alongside a proactive approach to continuous improvement. Experience in producing accounts, reconciling transactions, and supporting audits is essential.
